At Apple, I worked extensively on Product Design, Design Systems, and Design Operations, for the Apple Store App, contributing to nearly every major Retail product-level update from 2016-2022.

The Design System
Design systems are cross-functional foundations used across multiple teams using a shared visual and UX language patterns. Levering common UI, UX and copy patterns provides designers opportunity to focus on bigger design challenges while providing consistency and elevating the user experience.

I created and maintained an app design system with a wide collection of reusable and customizable elements, templates, and supporting documentation aimed at helping project teams design holistic experiences.

During key update moments, such as OS/product/tool updates, I ensured that the design system and documentation were updated and optimized for teams, to include but not limited to color updates, naming conventions, pathing, adapting new technologies and features integrations.

COLLABORATION
I frequently work alongside cross-collaborative partners both across the larger Apple organization and within the Marcom design studio to make strategic design decisions, understand design pain points, and discuss design opportunities.

Since design systems users are both creative and engineers, understanding cross-functional pain points is crucial to it's long term success. Managing expectations, discussing needs, intaking requests, and managing timelines were a key component to directing the design system.

During launch cycles, I consult with teams to review all Apple Store App Marcom creative launch deliverables for adherence to Apple standards and provide guidance on aligning to Apple and Apple Store App guidelines.

TRAINING & SHARING
Working directly with team members, I evangelize Apple design practices to ensure optimal user experiences through regular meetings, reviews, trainings, office hours, workshops, documentation, presentations, and the creation and maintaince of informational hubs. I also mentor and provide guidance to others building design systems.

At Apple, I've had the opportunity to focus on design systems and design operations.

A design system acts as a cross-functional foundation used across multiple teams. Crafting a design system with shared visual and UX language patterns allows designers the freedom to focus on bigger design challenges while allowing consistency to elevate the user experience.

The design system is a collection of reusable elements, templates, and supporting documentation that help project teams design holistic experiences.

In alignment with the latest OS releases, the design systems are constantly updated and maintianed, and with a keen eye for detail to reflect all changes - no matter how small. This may include small changes such as, updates to color spaces, symbols, user themes & preferences, naming conventions, and larger updates, such as integrating enhancements and new features. Updates are also communicated to impacted design and engineering teams.

I work alongside cross-collaborative partners both across the organization and within the studio to make strategic design decisions, with an eye on Accessibility and Inclusive design practices and adopting and implementing new OS features.

I evangelize Apple design practices within multiple design teams to ensure optimal user experiences through a variety of design, tool, and onboarding trainings and workshops.

I also mentor other design teams working to build their own design systems to optimize their design flows, elements, and creative process.

In design operations, I've focused on methods to share best design practices and tools, onboarding, training, documentation, troubleshooting, and building out informational hubs in order to best support the studio creative team.
